The Isle of Skye is one of the most scenic areas of the Scottish Highlands. The main attraction: the iconic Old Man of Storr (The Storr) formation. The hike up to the “top” (vantage point on a hill) took us about an hour. Most photos I had seen of this place showed the moody, overcast vibes Scotland is better known for, but today the sun was shining. A thick, low-hanging layer of clouds or fog was sitting over the water – a pretty surreal backdrop.

While on this trip we also hit Beinn Alligin (in the distance in the background of this photo, I believe), an awesomely scenic day hike with a 2000-3000′ gain and remote, Iceland-like views.

Getting the shot: Took more and more photos, getting progressively higher and up over-the-top of the formation on a slope accessed by going past the hilltop viewpoint where the crowd gathers and hooking around left, climbing up the slope to get higher.

Fujiflex Silver Halide Prints use a process inspired by traditional darkroom photography, where light exposure activates unique silver halide crystals in the pigment. Chemical development then reveals the image with unmatched clarity, vibrant color, and smooth, continuous tones. If you’re wondering which print is best, this one is best.
